Advocacy is integral to our conservation initiatives and achieving our mission.
Each year, these legislators and policy makers make decisions that affect the well-being and future of our nation's and state’s waterways, and rich sporting traditions. With a stroke of the pen, they can have a substantial impact on these important issues. Trout Unlimited, joined by the NYSCTU, has and will continue to be tireless advocates for clean water, protecting streams and conserving resources. This means reviewing proposed legislation, getting involved in budgetary requests and working with elected officials to ensure the future of trout and their habitats. It also means participating in regulatory agencies’ review (such as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) relicensing applications for hydo-electric power facilities to seek positive remedies and outcomes.
