What We Do

Service Partnership

The Military Community and First Responders Need Our Help

Trout Unlimited’s Service Partnership was launched in July 2020 as an expansion of the Veterans Service Partnership, which began in 2011.   The new Service Partnership initiative is designed serve our nation’s active duty service men and women, reservists, veterans, first responders and their families.   The goal of Service Partnership is to challenge TU members’ thought process about how to actively engage our nation’s military communities and first responder and their families, in the TU mission.

Peer-reviewed research shows that outdoor recreation, with fly fishing topping the list, is a beneficial treatment for recovering veterans and first responders; in many cases, it's even being prescribed.

The New York State Council and Chapters have been actively involved in both Partnerships since their inception.   Successful Service Partnership programs aim higher than one-off events or activities; every successful TU Service Partnership program puts into place systems to continually engage and involve local military populations and first responder and with ongoing Chapter activities.
